On this page I humbly offer some personal recommendations for the beginning student of Latin.
And please don't waste a lot of time casting about wondering which book to use - just use Wheelock and be done with it!
- Wheelock's Latin Official Website

Here you can find tutorials, smartphone apps, audio files, translation keys, and a boatload of other invaluable resources.
- Online Latin Class using Wheelock

And here is an online Latin course by retired Classics professor Ben Lugosch, that uses Wheelock's Latin as the textbook. (I'm taking this class myself right now).
- Wheelock's Latin 7th Edition

It might sound old fashioned, but I would highly recommend actually buying the physical book. You could probably get by with a previous edition. You should be able to get a used copy of the 6th edition for about $6.50.
- Harrius Potter et Philosophi Lapis

Harry Potter in Latin! I mean the spells were always in Latin - but now you can get the whole thing in Latin. Peter Needham, who taught Latin and Greek at Eton for 30 years, has done the world a great service with this translation!
- Langescheidt's Pocket Latin Dictionary

Of course you'll need a dictionary, I would recommend Langescheidt's Pocket Latin Dictionary to get started. The teeny type can be a little hard on my old eyes, but it's the one I use.
- Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers

Bolchazy Carducci is a publishing house devoted just to Latin and Greek educational material. One could spend hours looking through all the cool stuff they have - including a huge selection of beginner level material in Latin!
- The Loeb Classical Library

And speaking of publishers, The Loeb Classical Library has hundreds of bilingual editions of classical Latin works. Even beginners can benefit from these works due to the English translations on the facing pages. Also this is a great place to get an idea of what is readily available in print in the Latin tongue.
- The news in Latin

Nuntii Latini is a Finnish news service that broadcasts in Latin. It has been broadcast since September 1989 by the Finnish national broadcaster Yle (Radiophonia Finnica Generalis) on the Yle Radio 1-channel. The name Nuntii Latini is Latin for Latin News or News in Latin. In addition to broadcasts there is also a website of the same name. It was announced in 2017 that Nuntii Latini would be shut down that year. An outpouring of support from listeners resulted in the show being extended through the end of 2019.
- Nova Roma

Nova Roma is an international organization dedicated to the study and restoration of ancient Roman religion, culture, and virtue. According to their website: "The modern practice of the Roman religion, the Cultus Deorum Romanorum is our attempt to reconstruct the religion of the ancient Romans as closely as possible."
- Latin texts online

A huge treasure trove on Latin texts freely available online.
